OVERVIEW

For far too many years Page County has been lead by boards that have done very little for
education. Over the years our schools have been funded with the attitude that less is best by
that I mean that the minimum amount of money has been allocated to the school  board by
the county and at the same time it was expected that State or Federal funds would fill in the
gaps.

THIS ATTITUDE IS UNACCEPTABLE. OUR CHILDREN ARE
THE FUTURE AND SHOULD BE EDUCATED AS SUCH.

Over this same time past boards have spent countless tax dollars on boon doggles at the
landfill. Boon doggles like loans to operators entrusted with running our landfill or purchasing
equipment for the operators to use. There are other issues with the landfill like the owner
ship of the landfill and owner-ship of the permit. Or how the liners are placed and when cells
are constructed. Past boards allowed the process to unfold with minimum supervision which
ended up with a fiasco over who owned what and eventually ended with the Page County
taxpayers buying the landfill.

BURYING YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND OSTRAGE STYLE IS NOT
IS NOT AN OPTION!!! LEVEL HEAD INVOLVMENT BY THE OWNERS
[YOU AND I] IS AN OPTION THAT I THINK WE SHOULD FOLLOW.

All the while my taxes and your taxes have been increasing through near slight of hand tricks
like increased assessments on real estate. This just allows you to think your property is worth
more while the tax man loots your wallet. The truth is your land is only worth WHAT YOU PAID
FOR IT until you sell it. If the supervisors want more money, in my opinion the way it should
be done is to approach you to your face and explain why they need more money and
convince you that you should be glad to give it up.

COMING IN AND DOUBLING YOUR ASSESSMENT WITH OUT
LOWERING THE RATE YOU PAY PER $100.00 IS NOT AN OPTION
FINDING OTHER WAYS TO TAX IS AN ALTERNATIVE OPTION.

My Ideas

Page County has been in need of a change for some time now. We have had
to endure many do nothing boards for to long a time! Our elected
officials have ducked and dodged Issues like...

1.          New schools and the cost to build them!!!  "JUST WHERE WILL
THE MONEY COME FROM" is always the question? So far no board  has come up with a
solution but each board has paid lip service with a nod and a wink.

OUR CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER!!!!! WE DESERVE BETTER!!!!!

Remember, a community gets the type of government it deserves and "WE DESERVE
BETTER". You will find more on my position on this issue if you click on EDUCATION.

2.   The landfill and the operation as an on going endeavor!!!  For
more than twelve years now the different boards have been giving too much money to so
called advisers, and consultants, for bad advice. Who gets to pay for this? YOU AND I DO!
HOW? WITH OUR REAL ESTATE TAX DOLLARS! I for one work for money and I do not like
to throw it down a bottomless pit. I like to see a return on my money.
My land  has increased in value over the years just like yours has BUT the erosion of my gain
has over the last dozen or more years just BOGGLED MY MIND... DID I JUST ALLOW THIS
TO HAPPEN? no...and NEITHER DID YOU!! What happened? Well in my opinion our faith
and trust in our elected officials allowed us to look the other way while the various operators
have looted the profits and more and more of our tax dollars have disappeared with each
each different operator. We need to watch them like hawks.

I FOR ONE THINK WE DESERVE BETTER!!!!! I KNOW WE CAN GET BETTER!!!!!

You will find more on my position on this issue if you click on LANDFILL.

3.   Your real estate tax and your assessment!!! Every one knows
the old saying "you don't get something for nothing" or the old saying "there is no free lunch"
these sayings are for the most part true and valid but if you look at your assessment you will
find that over the years all you got to do was pay more taxes for the increases in your real
estate values. Why??? Because like the saying goes you don't get something for nothing this
means you DO NOT get capitol gain unless you sell your real estate. But this does mean that
get to pay more taxes if your assessment goes up WE ALL KNOW THIS IF WE LOOK AT
OUR TAX BILLS!!!

I THINK WE DESERVE BETTER!!!!!I KNOW WE CAN GET BETTER!!!!!

You will find more on my position on issue if you click on taxes.

PLANING

Page County has been moving forward into the future at a snails pace. For far too long we
have made decisions only to have to reverse ourselves when we finally realize our mistakes.
One example was the decision to implement zoning in 1989 instead of implementing a well
thought out plan we choose to just ask every one what they wanted and as a result we now
have a hodge-podge of commercial here, agriculture there, residential somewhere else.
When you sit and look at the mess of zoning that results from poor planning or no planning at
all, I do not see how we can be proud of what has happened.

I feel strongly that the time has arrived for a planer. I realize that that will cost tax dollars but
with all the new development that is rumored to be coming to Page County the towns and
county must now work together so that the development makes sense and does not end up
in a hodge-podge mess. Sharing the cost of a planner is a good idea, when the county
includes the towns in planning and each work together development will provide a tax base
that will help everyone. In recent times especially since 09/11 you can see signs and posters
everywhere that say “UNITED WE STAND” that’s just what I’m talking about standing together
united county and towns.
To the Citizens of Page County & Tommy LaFrance:

I would like to publicly congratulate Mr. LaFrance on his election as the Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors.  This was an excellent and closely decided campaign between he and I.  This
campaign proved that politics does not need Mud-Slinging in order to run and be elected for a
particular office.

I would like to thank all the people who helped me along the way during the campaign:  Bill Anderson, Mike Rowles,
Kathy Whitley, Patty Sevry, Annie Duong, Damon McWhorter, Mollee McWhorter, Stuart Parlett, Michael Merica, Kenny
Alger, Bill Vreeland, Sidewalk Bob, Charlie Overbie, Ronnie Good, Tony Weakley, George Weddelton, Ben "Cooter"
